Overview

Space Skellies has been a popular NFT lately on Stargaze in the Cosmos ecosystem at the time of writing this. They are an NFT collection of 3,500 and will have side projects like their Space Doodles. They will be a P2E/PVP game. They launched at around 730 STARS and have now been trading at a median of around 1,000 STARS, and the current floor price is now 1,490 STARS. They minted out their first collection in under a week during FTX’s collapse and minted out their second in 10 hours.

Utility

Space Skellies is creating a series of PFP NFTs and using those in their upcoming game, which will be P2E and PVP.

In addition to creating a P2E game around the NFT, the team has already introduced new bonuses to holders, such as those holding more than five got airdropped for free in their Christmas-themed NFT collection Space Doodles.

Space Skellies already did their first STARS lottery game paying out 10K STARS, holders are earning their elixirs which are 1 per 2 Skellies every five days. Once you have harvested 4 elixirs, you will then consume the vials, and the conditioning process begins! “ Elixirs are what begin the process for your Evil Skelly. Once you have received 4 Elixirs, you will burn them for (1) Spaceship! This Spaceship is the gateway to the Evil Skellies! You can take your chances and burn your spaceship for a random Evil Skelly. The second option is to keep it and not burn. Similar to an unopened pack of cards.

They have also introduced Spacefuels as a currency through their Discord channel. Space Skellies has already been rolling out mini-games for players to use, including a web-based shooter already.

Design/Theme

The Space Skellies traits and designs are hand drawn by their artist. According to their website, the theme of Space Skellies will be to help fight off the waves of disaster as they travel the galaxy looking for the “Apocalyptic” weapon that has been rumored could destroy Mother Earth.

Volumes/Pricing

At the time of launching on the Stargaze Launchpad, Space Skellies had sold 374 NFTs at 645 STARS, and the remainder at 730 STARS on November 8th, 2022. They minted out their first collection during FTXs collapse within a week and for their second collection it was within 10 hours, much quicker than many projects lately.

In the last week at the time of writing this, Space Skellies has had 252 trades with a median price of 1,059 STARS (~$254 USD at the time of writing this), and the current floor price is now 1,490 STARS. Since launching, their entire volume has been about 1,000 NFTs with a 700 STARS median price. At the time of writing this, 293 of 3,500 NFTs are available for sale.

They claim to be one of the largest market cap projects on Stargaze it is unclear their exact location amongst the collections, but some are still quite a bit larger, like Bad Kids, Stargaze Punks, and others.

Partnerships

It is unclear yet what partnerships they have, but it appears they already have a few, including it appears Rebels which has been another active NFT community in Stargaze and some Luna projects.

Team

The team behind Space Skellies is “doxxed” and their website lists 10 team members:

• Slobbers moderator- previously a moderator in Terra and Kadena
• GLUCKMEDIA designer.
• RAMADANSTEVE advisor — head of discord, DeFi, and investments.
• JGNFT advisor — advisor and building a P2P trading platform for the community as well.
• EJ founder — founded Space Skellies early 2022 and was originally involved in Terra before moving to Stargaze.
• MAHYAR7R discord manager.
• OCTANE graphic designer — helps build out designs and collaborations with other communities.
• BIG BOOMS collaborations advisor.
• BBANDZ writer — she will be working on bringing more women into Web 3.0
• BWY moderator — mainly focused on proposals, discord infrastructure, and streamlining things.

It is not clear if the team is actually doxxed though as these are all anon based names. Most of the team does not have a large following of their own on social media but Space Skellies seems off to a great start.

Concerns/Challenges

Some concerns around Space Skellies is that multiple other projects are already trying to do things like make a game and do validator rewards. A plus is that many of them have raised at much higher prices, so the raise from Space Skellies could have bought them more STARS in current market conditions. It is also worth noting that games can take a long time to make, and no real high quality blockchain based games have presented themselves thus far.

Conclusion

Overall the Space Skellies project seems like a fun and exciting ecosystem with some unique features, artwork, and plans. If you enjoy the art and community, then this could be a good ecosystem/project, with the other utilities being the icing on the cake.
